PMIAK is launching VRMS (Volunteer Relationship Management System), the tool we selected to post volunteer opportunities. We want to improve communications with our volunteers and plan chapter activities with more accuracy. Most importantly, we want to extend opportunities for participation in PMIAK activities to all community members that want to contribute to our chapter. Our first opportunities posted include application to create a flyer to market our fall 2014 Workshop presented by Thomas Jarocki, on September 12th, and application to support Board Members during monthly meetings.
It is not necessary to be a chapter member to access the volunteer opportunity and register for it. However, one needs to have a PMI Global account (username and password) to log in and access VRMS.
Here are the steps to access opportunities and register:
Go to www.pmi.org > login as an existing user or create an account (new user)
- Click on Get Involved
- Click on Go to VRMS (It is recommended to create a profile here)
- After creating your profile go back to the Home tab
- Click on Find Opportunity
- Select United States
- Select Alaska
- Select Alaska Chapter
- Maintain All Opportunities and click on Search. Opportunities are listed at the bottom of the page
- Select opportunity by double-clicking on opportunity name to view, read opportunity details
- Click on Apply Now
Now that PMIAK launched VRMS, our VP of Volunteers Maggie McKay and the VP of Education Josiane Ballin, tool administrators and coordinators, will identify other opportunities to be posted.
Users will always follow the path described above to reach all of the PMIAK opportunities posted via VRMS.
Now more than ever project management professionals need to keep their PM skills sharp. PMIAK provides members with the resources to stay informed of project management methodologies to navigate through an increasingly challenging job market. In addition to providing programs on the process of implementing and practicing the discipline of project management, PMIAK provides opportunities to network with other project management professionals from a variety of industries.
